A Look Back at the Opening Ceremonies for the New Sawmill

Three events, one milestone, and countless unforgettable moments.

In June, following an intensive planning, construction, and commissioning phase, we were able to celebrate the official opening of our new sawmill. We marked this historic moment with a three-part series of events—together with customers, partners, employees, their families, and the local community.

With this new facility, we are investing in the future of local wood processing. Thanks to state-of-the-art scanning and measurement technology, as well as eight high-performance band saws, we achieve tremendous cutting capacity with maximum material yield. What we used to process in three shifts, we can now accomplish in just one.

Here’s a look back at our three unforgettable opening days:

A Look Back at the Opening Ceremonies for the New Sawmill

Customer and Partner Event | June 12, 2026

The festivities kicked off with an exclusive event for customers, suppliers, and representatives from the business and political worlds. TV host Nik Hartmann charmingly and expertly guided the audience through the evening.

In a series of engaging discussion panels, he spoke with leaders from business, politics, and the forestry and timber industries about the future of the sector. The focus was on topics such as the sustainable use of wood as a raw material, security of supply, the competitiveness of the Swiss timber industry, and the importance of modern production sites for domestic value creation. The diverse expert discussions offered exciting insights and varied perspectives on the opportunities and challenges facing the Swiss timber industry.

Employee Party | June 13, 2026

The second event was dedicated entirely to our employees and their families. After all, a project of this magnitude would not have been possible without the extraordinary dedication of our team.

Host Michèle Schönbächler guided the evening’s proceedings, leading the program with great charm and warmth. The management team took the opportunity to sincerely thank all employees for their hard work, flexibility, and dedication during the construction and commissioning phases.

The evening’s atmosphere was elevated by a concert performance by Bligg, which made the evening an unforgettable experience. Together, we celebrated, laughed, and toasted a significant milestone in the history of our family-owned company.

Open House | June 27, 2026

The grand finale was the open house. Despite the summer heat, around 2,400 visitors took the opportunity to get a look behind the scenes at our new sawmill.

The ongoing production operations were particularly impressive: The sawmill ran a special Saturday shift to demonstrate live how Swiss roundwood is measured and processed with precision using fully automated systems. The tour was complemented by a varied program of activities, a food and beverage area, and numerous opportunities to meet people on our company grounds.

A strong symbol for the region and the cycle

A seamless circular economy and 100-percent utilization of raw materials have long been part of our philosophy. With the new sawmill, we can now process Swiss roundwood much more efficiently and in less time.

For us, this investment represents a clear commitment to Switzerland as a production location and to the Rottal region. At the same time, the new capacity lays a crucial foundation for the future, ensuring the long-term raw material supply needed for our next planned expansion steps—such as the future construction of a glulam plant.

A huge THANK YOU to all our customers, partners, neighbors, the community, and especially to our amazing team, who made these opening days such an unforgettable milestone!
